She is definitely deserving of more attention and featuring her here could be a fun way for the oft-forgotten and underrated character to shine. If there was only to be one recognizable High Republic Jedi included in The Acolyte, Yaddle might make a better choice than Yoda. Her fate was revealed in Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, which showed her death at Dooku's hands immediately after Darth Maul's defeat on Naboo. Like Yoda, and others to be mentioned, she’s featured in the ongoing Star Wars: The High Republic series of books. For a long time, Yaddle was practically forgotten in Star Wars canon, but recently she’s been at the center of some exciting new stories. Yaddle was born over 500 years before the Battle of Yavin in the first Star Wars movie, and so her inclusion in The Acolyte makes as much sense as Yoda’s. The Disney+ TV show's title hints at such a character, and Darth Venamis would be a good fit.Īnother member of Yoda's species, Yaddle was active on the Council at this time. This makes him conceptually similar to Asaaj Ventress in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, who was technically considered a Sith Acolyte. Despite his styling, Darth Venamis was never actually awarded the formal title of Sith Lord. In Legends, Darth Tenebrous violated the Rule of Two by training both Plagueis and Darth Venamis. The inclusion of Darth Tenebrous could be a good way to introduce his other apprentice to the canon too. In such continuity, Darth Tenebrous was a Bith Sith Lord and a famous starship designer. He is a very mysterious character, but The Acolyte could draw from the Sith’s lore lost to Star Wars Legends. Given Darth Plagueis’ knowledge of manipulating midichlorians to create life, some popular theories suggest he was responsible for Anakin’s immaculate conception through the Force.ĭepending on how The Acolyte establishes the timeline of the Sith, the show could alternatively or additionally feature Darth Plagueis’ master, Darth Tenebrous. His inclusion could even begin to answer a pervasive question about Anakin Skywalker’s origins. Should he appear in The Acolyte, Darth Plagueis could easily feature as the main Sith Lord, and the Disney+ TV show could showcase his impressive talents. It was from his master that Darth Sidious learned how to channel his sheer power and even achieve a form of immortality by transferring consciousness to another body, thus explaining his return in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. While Darth Plagueis failed in his goal, he did teach his apprentice all he knew, helping Palpatine become Star Wars’ greatest Sith Lord. The Acolyte could well reincorporate key elements - including that Palpatine was still his apprentice during his political career.ĭarth Plagueis’ devotion to discovering the science of immortality led him to learn the dark intricacies of the Force. Little is known of this Sith Lord's backstory - his story was told in James Luceno's novel Plagueis, but that was branded non-canon (or Legends) by Lucasfilm and has already been contradicted. His former apprentice recounted the Tale of Darth Plagueis the Wise in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, detailing how Plagueis became obsessed with achieving true immortality. That means The Acolyte could finally show Darth Plagueis, the Muun Sith Lord and master to Darth Sidious. As The Acolyte is centered on the dark side of the Force, the Sith must have some role to play.
